The shelter statistics are calculated on a monthly basis and are divided into two distinct types:
- The INCOMING STATISTICAL REPORTS reflect the number of live dogs and live cats that were admitted to the shelter.
- The OUTGOING STATISTICAL REPORTS reflect the number of dogs and cats that were released to the public as well as those that were euthanized at the shelter.
The reports are separated according to animal type. Within each report, the charts are grouped by the current calendar year and the previous calendar year. Each yearly chart is divided into a month-by-month breakdown and then divided according to the incoming or outgoing types.
In addition, each report contains a third chart comparing the year-over-year differences (that is, 2011 vs. 2010). First, the monthly difference is based on a same-month comparison (for example, January 2011 vs. January 2010), and the percent difference indicates the increase or decrease of that same-month comparison. Next, the yearly difference is based on a year-to-date comparison (for example, the combined total of January through March 2011 vs. the combined total of January through March 2010), and the percent difference indicates the increase or decrease of that year-to-date comparison.
The charts below list the terms used to categorize the animals that enter the shelter and the outcome of the animals that were kenneled at the shelter. The chart also includes the definition of each incoming term and each outgoing term. |
