Shelter Teams Program

Our Teen/Adult Volunteer Program - 20 Hour Commitment

If you're between the ages of 13 and 17 (haven't reached your 18th birthday) and wish to work with the animals, you too can be a volunteer! You'll need to have a parent, guardian or adult age 18 or older complete the training with you and volunteer along side you but you'll be doing lots of wonderful things before you know it! You and your partner will attend our regular Volunteer Orientation and training classes and you will both be able to do all of the regular volunteer activities in our shelter. Following the initial Volunteer Orientation (held the second Wednesday of each month from 6:00-7:30 at the shelter), you will both attend classes which will train you in shelter law and dog, cat or rabbit handling. Once trained, you'll mentor with a Senior Volunteer. This is a program for teens who wish to contribute more than 20 hours of volunteering. Call 916-808-8166 to sign up for an Orientation and indicate that you're a “Shelter Teams” volunteer.
