Sacramento was successful in diversifying the City fleet to include
alternative fuel vehicles and implementing stricter emission testing
requirements for City vehicles. Through involvement with the Public
Equipment Managers Association, Fleet Operations promoted education
and training for public employees in the field of vehicle maintenance
and was also instrumental in obtaining the federal designation of "Clean
City" for the City of Sacramento.
The Fleet operation's interest, enthusiasm and commitment
to improved automotive technology and their work toward a cleaner
environment make them "Clean Air Heroes."
