A Message from the Director

Welcome to the Department of General Services web site.

The Department provides a variety of services, such as Animal Care Services, Business Operations, Facilities and Real Property Management and Fleet Management. Here are a few interesting facts and figures from last year:

• Adopted 2,000 animals, hosted 12 spay and neuter clinics throughout the City, and increased the number of animal licenses issued by 14%
• Received 60,000 calls from residents, City employees and other customers and provided City information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
• Successfully delivered the construction and occupancy of New City Hall and the restoration of Historic City Hall, on time and under budget, and was recently awarded the prestigious "Real Estate Project of the Year - Best Public Project" awarded by the Sacramento Business Journal
• Implemented alternative fuel throughout the City's fleet including low sulfur diesel

We pride ourselves on being responsive, efficient and open to suggestions. You can submit your questions, concerns, or suggestions directly to a General Service staff via "e-mail" and you will get a response within two business days. Soon, there will be an online survey available to you.
