It would be next to impossible to list everything that has occurred to get the Railyards redevelopment as far it is today. In just the past five years, countless meetings, milestones and policy actions have occurred. Listed below are key activities and dates.

Union Pacific Railroad sells Railyards site to private developer Thomas Enterprises

Thomas Enterprises sells the historic Sacramento Valley Station (depot) to City and begins process to sell Intermodal site to City

City and Thomas Enterprises enter into Track Relocation and Finance Agreement to move the tracks

City improves customer parking at depot

Regional Transit extends light rail service, more easily connecting regional commuter trains and City transit service
2007

Sacramento City Council unanimously approves the Railyards Specific Plan and environmental impact report, which includes up to 12,000 housing units, specialty shops, an entertainment district, dining, office space, plazas and a central shopping district
2008

City is awarded $20 million in state bond funding for track relocation

Thomas Enterprises and City are awarded approximately a total of $65 million in state bond funding to build roads and utilities
