Christmas Tree Recycling
Holiday tree recycling is a great way to help the environment and send less to the landfill. This year, residential yard waste customers can place trees on the curb during the citywide Loose-in-the-Street pickup that occurs from October 22, 2012 through the second week of January 2013.
Holiday Tree Recycling Guidelines:
- The last day trees can be placed out for pickup
is 6:00 am on Monday January 14, 2013. This ensures the trees are collected during the last week of the citywide loose-in-the-street service for Fall/Winter 2012-13. - The tree should be clean of all lights, tinsel, decorations etc. and have no stand attached.
- Flocked trees will be accepted.
- The city will collect up to 5 trees. Loads in excess of 5 trees will only be accepted at: Elder Creek Recovery & Transfer Station, Kiefer Landfill, and the North Area Recovery Station.
- If you miss the citywide tree collection the week of January 14, 2013, and you have a yard waste container, you can cut your tree into pieces that will fit completely into the container with the lid closed. It will be collected on your next weekly collection day.
- If you pay for year-round Loose-in-the-Street service and missed the citywide pickup week, you may place your tree out on your next scheduled Loose-in-the-Street collection day.
