Managers and supervisors are responsible for maintaining standards of performance and conduct for employees who report to them in accordance with City policy. This page contains resources to help managers and supervisors determine when disciplinary action may be an appropriate response to unacceptable performance and/or behavior, and to administer effective, sustainable discipline in accordance with City policy.
If you are considering disciplinary action you should consult with Labor Relations staff, who are familiar with the City's disciplinary policies and practices, including the MOUs. The Office of Labor Relations also offers training on employee discipline, and the training materials include checklists and sample letters for future reference.
