    - Accessibility and Transparency

  • 600 residents participated in regular Town Hall meetings with the Mayor held across the city
  • 500 constituents addressed concerns in face-to-face Office Hours meetings with Mayor and City staff
  • Relocated Mayor’s staff to new “Bullpen” area more accessible to constituents
  • Set a new precedent by publishing Mayor’s daily calendar online
  •  “One-stop” website created to increase public access to information on city employee compensation and finances
  • Protected residents’ access to elected leaders during public comment portion of weekly Council meetings
  • - Increased Accountability and Fiscal Responsibility

  • Secured an external review of city finances and operations to root out waste, fraud and abuse
  • Ongoing efforts to reform city charter to increase accountability, efficiency, and transparency
  • Maintained city credit rating and $10.5M reserve despite severe budget cuts
  • New Independent Budget Analyst position approved to enhance objective review of budget proposals
  • Proposition 22 passed by voters to end unlawful state raids on local funds
  • - Fostering Public-Private Partnerships

  • Partnered with over 50 organizations from the business, faith and nonprofit communities through policy initiatives
  • Over $3M in outside philanthropic funding raised to support Mayoral and community initiatives
  • $750,000 in value created though 13,000 hours of service logged by Mayoral Fellows, interns and volunteers recruiting from top local and national universities
