Volunteer Sacramento is an effort led by Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, in partnership with Hands On Sacramento and Honorary Chair Congresswoman Doris Matsui, to encourage volunteerism and service in our community. With the goal of making Sacramento the number one city in California for Volunteering, Volunteer Sacramento asks every resident to donate a minimum of 10 hours each year.
Our goal is to have over 500,000 hours of community service logged by the end of 2009, which will translate into an economic contribution of more than $10 million back into our community. Adults, youth, families and companies will participate in service projects centered around a monthly calendar of volunteer themes.
Volunteer Sacramento has received generous support from the Sacramento Association of Realtors, Wells Fargo, Sierra Health Foundation, AT&T, and Wal Mart.
