A Sampler of Camp Activities

Below you'll find a description of some of the recreation activities we offer. Some of the activities require you to sign up in the camp store by 9:00 pm on the night prior to the activity. All activities require you to wear your wrist band which will be issued to you upon your arrival at camp.

Early Bird Hikes
If you enjoy starting your day off with a short hike, meet a recreation leader in the dining hall at 7 a.m. sharp for a 45-minute refreshing hike. Please remember to sign up for this activity the day before you plan on attnding so we know how many to expect. Sign up sheets are located in the camp store (no sign-ups will be taken after 9 p.m.).

Sunnyside Stretch
Do your muscles ache in the mornings? Well, maybe you need to join us in the lodge at 8 a.m. for some mild and relaxing stretching exercises. Please remember to sign up for this activity the day before you plan on attending so we know how many people to expect. Sign-up sheets are located in the camp store (no sign-ups will be taken after 9 p.m.).

Craft Shack
To make your stay more enjoyable during the "in-between" times, the craft shack (located near the lodge) will be open at certain times during your stay. The craft shack contains lanyard materials, beading supplies, embroidrey floss, and other craft treats. Learn how to make key chains, bracelets, necklaces, rings... or make something new (check schedules for days and times).

Volleyball
Meet us at the volleyball court for a friendly game of volleyball between the guests and staff. You don't even need to know how to play, just come on out and have some fun!

Kids Krazy Kampfire
Drop the kids off at the campfire pit for a night of songs, skits, and s'mores.

Adult/Teen Bingo Night
Meet us in the lodge for a night of BINGO. We will be playing the traditional game, along with many other exciting variations, including everyone's favorite, "blackout".

Movie Madness - Full week sessions only
Every Wednesday the lodge is transformed into the Camp Sacramento Cinema. We will be showing full-length feature films. Please check the flyers around camp for the movies showing during your week.

Adult/Teen All Day Hike - Full week sessions only
This hike through the Desolation Wilderness leaves Thursday morning at 8:30 am and returns before dinner. If you would like to hike through the Sierras for the day, join us at the All Day Hike meeting Wednesday at 5:15 p.m. on the patio for more details.

Men's & Women's Softball - Full week sessions only
This has been a long-standing tradition at Camp Sacramento. The women guests play the women staff on Tuesday afternoon, and the men guests play the men staff on Thursday afternoon. Don't forget to bring your glove, and don't be a chicken... it's all just for fun (yes it's just for fun, and that means you, week 5 -- hee hee -- you know we love you).

Pope Beach - Full week sessions only
It's beach day! Pack up your beach wear and follow us down to Pope Beach. We'll barbeque lunch while you relax and play on the beach. The recreation staff will host a sand castle/sand design contest so don't forget to bring your sand toys. (There's a $3/per car parking fee at the beach).

Starlight Lounge Variety Show - Full week sessions only
Rather than just watching the show this year, why not join in -- put an act together and be part of the show. Sign up for this activity in the camp store, and don't forget to bring your props. Due to the length of the variety show, we require that variety show participants be registered for the full session and are not just at camp for the day. No more than 10 acts can be accepted so sign up early!
