Park Opens New Jogging Path
Dedication Ceremony

Saturday, October 5, 2002, 10 a.m.,
14th Avenue and Land Park Drive

Sacramento California, October 4, 2002 – Hundreds of joggers run through William Land Park every day – often times spashing in muddy water, uneven turf or hitting tree roots. Now joggers can run in stride with a brand new jogging path made just for them. Phase one of the jogging path goes from Freeport Blvd. to Riverside Blvd. along 13th Avenue. The path also loops around the three baseball fields adjacent to Land Park Drive.

“Our Park Planning, Design and Development Division of the Department of Parks and Recreation has really done a splendid job with this first phase of the jogging path,” said City Councilmember Jimmie Yee. The total length of this first phase of the jogging path is almost two miles long at a cost of $190,000.

The jogging path is constructed out of decomposed granite with a recycled type of polymer and wood blend that’s just right for running. The complete master plan of the jogging path expands the path along Freeport Blvd., then along Sutterville Road to Land Park Drive and back to 13th Avenue, encircling the park.

City Councilmember Jimmie Yee, along with many joggers and residents, will help dedicate the new jogging path on Saturday, October 5, 2002 at 10 a.m., on the corner of 14th Avenue and Land Park Drive.
