"Our Dream Street" Home Improvement Project
Brings New Life to Del Paso Heights Street
SACRAMENTO, CA - On Saturday, April 26, 2003,
homes located along the 3600 block of May Street in Del Paso Heights will
be revitalized as part of this year's "Our Dream Street" home
improvement project, a multi-agency effort spearheaded by Rebuilding Together
with Christmas in April, Councilmember Sandy Sheedy, the City of Sacramento,
Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency, and the Del Paso Heights
Redevelopment Advisory Committee.
Sacramento will proudly join cities across the nation
in celebrating National Rebuilding Day on Saturday, April 26, 2003. More
than 700 volunteers will gather in the morning for a full day of home
improvement and beautification work on the 3600 block of May Street, between
South Avenue and Roanoke Avenue, giving the entire block a fresh, cohesive
look. All participating houses will receive exterior paint, and some houses
will get landscaping services and interior/exterior improvements. The
day begins with an opening ceremony at 7:30 a.m., and volunteers will
work into the late afternoon.
Rebuilding Together with Christmas in April, a national
"good works" organization, is best known for home maintenance
projects on individual residences that owners are unable to do themselves
because of physical or economic considerations. Locally, this will be
the third year of the "Our Dream Street" project. Previous sites
include the 3900 block of Fell Street in 2001, and the 3900 block of Alder
Street in 2002.
