AmeriCorps*NCCC Members will kick-off a year of service THIS Saturday!
On October 9th, AmeriCorps*NCCC Western Region will join several community
partners including the City of Sacramento Department of Parks and Recreation
and Neighborhood Services Area 4 to clean up the Sacramento Northern Bikeway.
The day will begin at 9AM with a welcome. Corps Members
will then begin work on assigned sections throughout the trail until 12:30PM.
In one morning we will clean the entire 14 miles of Sacramento Northern
Bike trail from C Street to Rio Linda showing our pride in Sacramento
and giving back to the community. Tasks will include: weeding, mulching,
planting trees, and trash pickup! The day will wrap up back at the park
with an appreciation barbeque provided by the Sacramento Parks Department.
AmeriCorps*NCCC is a team-based program for 18-24 year
olds. It is a part of AmeriCorps, a network of national service programs
created to improve the environment, enhance education, increase public
safety and homeland security, and assist with disaster relief and other
unmet human needs. The Western Region is based on McClellan Park. The
21 teams of the Western Region will complete almost 100 projects throughout
their ten months of service. A number will be with Sacramento area nonprofits,
schools, community services, and faith based organizations.
