Councilmember Kevin McCarty and South East Sacramento
Residents Gather to Plan the Design of a Cherished Community Play Structure
at Max Baer Park:
Thursday, December 14, 5p.m. – 8p.m.
Sacramento, California, December 13, 2006—On
Thursday, December 14, the South East Sacramento community will gather
to participate in a design workshop that will lay the foundation for the
rebuild of a play structure that was destroyed by arson.
Prior to its destruction, the play structure was the
main focus of activity for children in surrounding neighborhoods. Additionally,
the play structure was an important amenity in a collection of services
and amenities provided at Max Baer Park. The much anticipated play structure
design workshop and scheduled rebuild will reinstate a community resource
that was cherished by all.
The design workshop and play structure rebuild are being organized and
funded by KaBOOM! and AMC Mortgage Services, Inc., in collaboration with
the City of Sacramento. Thursday’s design workshop will give community
members an opportunity to share ideas and provide recommendations, all
of which will impact the new play structure’s design and characteristics.
Organizers will rebuild the play structure in late February, 2007 and
plan to actively seek community participation.
