Tanzanite Community Park Boasts a New Skate
and Dog Park after Completion of Phase 2 of
its Development
Sacramento, California, January 29, 2007-Phase
2 improvements to Tanzanite Community Park have been completed, adding
an impressive array of new amenities that residents are already enjoying.
Prior to Phase 2 of its development, the 5 acre park’s
main amenities were a soccer field, tot lot and adventure area, picnic
area, and shade structure. With the completion of Phase 2 construction,
the park now takes up an additional 15 acres. The new amenities include
a parking lot for 77 vehicles, restrooms, 2 full basketball courts, additional
picnic areas and BBQ grills, more seating, informal turf areas, landscaping,
and walkways that link the park’s many amenities.
In addition to the previously mentioned amenities, two
additional amenities are garnering much attention from residents: a new
Skate Park, and a 2-acre, fenced Dog Park that will make any dog lover
proud. The Skate Park features three bowls with depths ranging from 4
feet to 13 feet. Skaters who prefer the challenge of street skating will
find that the street course replicates the street environment without
the hazards of cars, security guards, and skate stops. The Skate Park
will remain open from 8a.m. to dusk.
The Dog Park is dotted with a rich assortment of trees
and shrubs, stocked with an ample supply of dog waste bag dispensers,
and full of benches that allow dog owners to rest while their dogs dig,
sniff, and run around to their hearts’ content. The Dog Park will
remain open from dawn to dusk.
“From skating to dog enthusiasts, the new amenities
at Tanzanite Community Park have something for everyone,” said Councilmember
Ray Tretheway. “I hope many neighbors will bring their bikes, their
friends and their family to this great park and enjoy the many improvements
to our park.”
Tanzanite Community Park is located at 2220 Tanzanite
Way (Intersection of Tanzanite Way and Innovator Drive) in Natomas.
