Grand Opening and Dedication of Natomas' First Dog Park
Saturday, June 9, 2001, 1 p.m., 2780 Azevedo Drive
Sacramento, California, June 7, 2001
- Dogs and their human companions will be in attendance as Mayor Heather
Fargo and Councilmember Ray Tretheway cut the ribbon and open the gate
for the four-legged canines to run free at Natomas' first off leash dog
park.
"The Natomas community has been waiting for this
a long, long time," said Mayor Heather Fargo, "and I am so very
pleased that we're opening this dog park." Mayor Fargo also said
that this park represents the third off leash dog park in the City of
Sacramento with additional dog parks to be opened in the future.
The six-tenths (.6) acre gated dog park is located on
Azevedo Drive near the corner of West El Camino Avenue. Councilmember
Ray Tretheway said that amenities at the dog park include a doggy drinking
fountain, mutt mitt dispenser, picnic tables and benches. "The public
can enjoy the park daily from sunrise to sunset," said Councilmember
Tretheway. "People can bring their children - both two-legged and
four-legged - pack a picnic meal and have fun right in their own neighborhood."
Natomas Animal Rescue and Western Feed will be in attendance
at this event providing canine information to the community. The Department
of Parks and Recreation operates Bannon Creek Dog Park. Roy Tatman, Landscape
Architect, is the project manager.
It all begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2001, Bannon
Creek Park, 2780 Azevedo Drive, near the corner of Azevedo and West El
Camino Avenue.
