Southside Community Garden

5th Street near W Street, Downtown (Located one block from Southside Park)

The Southside Community Garden was the first City of Sacramento owned and managed community garden. Gardeners have 32,000 square feet of space surrounded by permanent fencing in the downtown area.

The Capitol Area Development Authority acquired the property in June of 2002, and donated the garden to the City of Sacramento as the City’s first permanent community garden under the management of the Department of Parks and Recreation.

For more information on the Southside Community Garden contact Bill Maynard, (916) 808-4943, or see more information on other area community gardens.
