Pannell Meadowview Recreational Pool

Located near Samuel C. Pannell Meadowview Community Center at 2450 Meadowview Road – Telephone: 808-6622

Meadowview PoolThe state-of-the-art Pannell-Meadowview Recreational Pool is our premier aquatics facility. The eight-lane, 25-yard long competition pool includes a beach-type entry with an interactive water play structure. A 35-foot tall slide takes you on a two-and-a-half loop, 156-foot long journey. The pool is heated to 80 degrees in non-summer months.

Other amenities feature a full-service snack bar, lounge chairs, picnic tables and plenty of space for lounging on the grass. The zero entry feature of this pool makes entry and exiting a breeze for those with physical disabilities. An adaptive “aqua chair” is available for swimmers to transfer into and roll into the pool for easy entrance and exit. Restrooms are fully accessible, and there is space available for an attendant of the opposite sex to change swimmers that need assistance.

What is Masters Swimming and how can I participate in Masters Swimming?

US Masters Swimming (USMS) is a national organization that provides organized workouts, competitions, clinics and workshops for adults aged 18 and over. USMS has 42,000 members nationwide and is open to all adult swimmers dedicated to improving their fitness through swimming. There are swimmers who are interested in just fitness swimming and others who are interested in triathlons, swim meets, and open water swimming. USMS is broken into 53 local masters swim committees (LMSC). Pacific Masters, which has 10,000 members, is the regional organization for Northern California and Nevada. For detailed information on USMS and Pacific Masters, please visit the web sites www.usms.org and www.pacificmasters.org.

The local organization Sacramento Masters, formed in 1972, provides coached workouts and clinics for the Sacramento area. Sacramento Masters meets 6 days/week at a local health club. The Masters group also has started monthly workouts available during the late spring and summer months on Saturdays from 8:30-10 am at the Pannell Meadowview Pool. Workouts will be scheduled during the summer. This is currently a monthly workout with the goal of adding more Saturdays if the numbers support it. The workouts accommodate swimmers of various ability levels and allow individuals to swim with others of similar speed. The workout is structured to provide the best swimming experience as well as helping meet individual goals. You do not have to be a competitive swimmer or a member of USMS to participate in any of the workouts. The majority of masters swimmers are there for the workout with less than 30% of those swimmers participating in competitions. Please check our web site www.sacmasters.org for the updated schedule of workouts at the Pannell Meadowview Pool. If you would like to be placed on the e-mail list to be notified of upcoming workouts at the Pannell Meadowview Pool, please call 923-5174 or e-mail us at revols@earthlink.net .

There is already a small group of masters swimmers who regularly work out at the Pannell Meadowview Pool. The Pannell Meadowview Pool is not only convenient for many swimmers, but it is also financially feasible. The swimmers meet regularly and follow workouts that have been placed on the Internet by USMS or by other masters organizations. Even without a coach, the motivation remains high through the support and camaraderie of fellow swimmers. The only charge to join this group is the regular lap swim fee. There is no additional cost.
