Bouquets to Art is one of San Francisco‘s most important floral functions. San Francisco designers are given the chance to interpret works of art at the de Young Museum using their arrangements. The galleries feature floral displays scattered throughout the space. The floral art pieces echo the themes of their surroundings. The Amish Quilts Collection features approximately 48 full-size and crib quilts dating from the 1880s to the 1940s, made by girls and women of various Amish communities in Pennsylvania and the Midwest. Lunch not included. There is a cafe at the museum.

Lincoln Arts’ presents Feats of Clay at the historic Gladding McBean terra cotta factory. Where humble clay is converted by fire and skill to objects of utility and great beauty. It is a moving experience.
A walk past many kilns in various stages of firing, through the cool finishing floor where workers are hand-sanding and glazing each building block, which will lead to the architectural design studio where artistry has flourished since 1875. Lunch is included at High Hand Nursery in Loomis, where you will have time to browse and enjoy the beautiful plants and garden shop. Spend a day discovering the treasures in your own backyard. We will start our morning with a visit to the California Museum. Be inspired by California’s rich cultural history, its technological and social contributions through multimedia presentations, hands on exhibits and displays. Travel to the Casa Garden Restaurant for a delicious lunch. After lunch we will visit the Stanford Mansion. You will gain an intimate view of Leland and Jane Stanford’s home as it appeared in the 1860s and 1870s. Careful research has guided the restoration of the Mansion’s rich details, including crystal chandeliers, gilded mirrors, French-polished wood paneling and original Stanford family furnishings. Guide Dogs for the Blind and Sausalito |
We love our dogs for many reasons-they’re confidants, walking partners, and companions. But what if your life depended on a dog every single day? This is what it means for a person to have a Guide Dog. It may be the best example yet of the reciprocal relationship between humans and dogs. Visit San Rafael for a tour of the Guide Dogs for the Blind campus. Learn about the great work that they do and their program. Hear about the volunteer puppy raisers and see the kennels, puppy socialization area, veterinary clinic and dormitory. There is walking on flat surfaces with limited stairs, walking distance about 6 blocks. After our morning tour we will travel to Sausalito for lunch on your own and some free time to explore. Two special exhibits: Birth of Impressionism and Masterpieces from the Musee d’Orsay puts forth nearly 100 works of art by the famous masters who called France their home during the mid-19th century. This exhibition begins with paintings by naturalist artist Courbet who painted scenes as they appear in life, and presents American expatriate James McNeil’s “whistler’s Mother” and works by Manet, Renoir, Monet, and Sisley are on view as well. Day 1: Travel by motorcoach to the beautiful Yosemite Valley. Upon arrival at the park enjoy the narrated tram ride (included) where all the beautiful waterfalls and scenic beauty is on display. After some free time at the Visitor’s Center travel to your overnight destination, the Chuckchansi Casino and Resort in Coursegold, just outside of Oakhurst. The resort offers seven restaurants and six bars to choose from. Dinner is on your own. In addition there is Las Vegas style gaming and entertainment for your enjoyment.
