About Urban Forest Services

Staff provides care and maintenance support to more than 150,000 city street and park trees that comprise our urban forest. They plant the right tree in the right spot; trim and prune as needed to maintain health and resident safety; and remove unhealthy, dangerous or fallen trees. Staff is trained to control insects and disease, and inspect and protect heritage trees. Urban Forest Services staff also operates the City plant nursery, growing new trees. If you have questions, please call Urban Forest Services at (916) 808-6345.

Sacramento Tree Services Best Management Practices Review and Report

Tree Planting Guide

See the Tree Planting Guide to learn which trees do best in the Sacramento valley. We've got more than 40 recommendations on evergreen trees, broadleafed evergreen trees and deciduous trees - with comments on height, spread, form of tree, drought tolerance and root and canopy suitability for confined spaces.

Shade Tree Planting

Urban Forest Services will provide and plant one shade tree for each 40 feet of street frontage within the City limits (space permitting).
Call (916) 808-6345 for more information.
