How do I get a stop sign or speed hump on my street?

Traffic Investigators are assigned by neighborhood areas and are available to take customer inquiries about traffic controls. Area 1:LoAnna Hernandez, 808-2005; Area 2: , 808-6721; Area 3: Dino Reali, 808-8836; Area 4: Jon Fitzpatrick , 808-8595. The investigator will review and determine appropriate action. The criteria for traffic controls are very specific. Information brochures are also available on stop signs, speed limits, undulations (speed humps), and crosswalks. Call 808-8300 to request a copy.

What can be done about cars speeding down my street?

Safety is one of our highest priorities. To find out what can be done about speeding vehicles, call the Traffic Investigator assigned to your neighborhood area.

How can I close off my alley?

Alley closures are last resort measures to curb undesirable activity in an alley. Talk with your neighbors to gain their support and then contact Cesar Narvaez, at (916) 808-7873 to receive an application package. Approval by the City Council to close off an alley is required.

How do I get a pothole fixed?
Call Street Services at 311. Generally, repairs are completed within two to three days depending on the severity of the damage.

Who do I call to fix burned out street lights?
Call Street Services at 311 and provide your address and street name.


Engineering Services

Where does city right-of-way stop in my yard?

In general, the city right-of-way ends at either the back of the sidewalk or two feet behind the back of the sidewalk.

How can I find out about when a construction project will start and when it will be completed?
To find out about projects under construction in the city, call our Construction Hotline at 808-6600.

Who do I contact to bid on a city project?
Bid requests are avaliable online at the City's Bid Center which can be accessed via www.cityofsacramento.org

What can be done about a car parked illegally on my street?
Call the On-Street Parking complaint/help desk at 311.

How can I contest a parking ticket?
You must fill out a citation contest form, attach any supporting evidence and mail or bring in person within 21 days of citation issued to Revenue Division, 915 I Street, Room 104, Sacramento. The form is available for printing on the parking services web page at www.cityofsacramento.org/transportation/parking/

How can I get a permit to park in front of my house?
Review the info about the Residential Permit Parking Program.

Who do I call to request parking enforcement or to report a jammed parking meter?
Call 311. Please provide the address and street name, vehicle description (color, make, and model) and license or meter number.
