Freeport Boulevard/21st Street Two-Way Conversion

Freeport Boulevard/21st Street Converts to Two-way Traffic Beginning February 7th

The conversion of Freeport Boulevard from one-way to two-way will take place Thursday, February 7, followed by the conversion of 21st Street in phases (see map and schedule at right). The project, which will convert Freeport Boulevard (Vallejo Way to Broadway) and 21 Street (4th Avenue to W Street) from one-way to two-way streets will restore the streets to the way they were prior to the mid 70s, to improve pedestrian safety, vehicle access and neighborhood livability.

Conversion is scheduled to take place during the following time frames, weather permitting:

  • Freeport Boulevard, between Vallejo Way and Broadway, will be converted on or about February 7th.
  • 21st Street, between 4th Avenue and W Street, will be converted to two-way in subsections beginning February 13th as follows:
    • February 13 – 4th Avenue to railroad tracks
    • February 18 – railroad tracks to 2nd Avenue
    • February 21 – 2nd Avenue to Larkin Way
    • February 26 – Larkin Way to Broadway
    • February 29 – Broadway to W Street

Parking will be temporarily restricted three days prior to each scheduled conversion.  Electronic message boards placed along the roadways will indicate exact days and times of the conversions.  Police will also be standing by to help ensure motorists are traveling in the proper direction.
