Carpool Discount

Why should I join a carpool?

A carpool can save 25% off the monthly parking fees. A carpool is two (2) or more commuters traveling together at least three (3) days per week (Monday-Friday) and who work in the downtown area.

Special requirements for a carpool:

All riders must be able to verify that their employment is within the downtown core area bounded by E Street to the north, R Street to the south, 21st Street to the east, and the Sacramento River to the west. All riders must live/reside outside the above area.

Each commuter in the carpool must pay for his or her percentage of the permit with a separate form of payment. Payments must be mailed in the same envelope with the participant's name, facility and permit number clearly written on the check or both carpoolers must come in the Parking Administrative Office together. Corporate customers who pay for parking from company accounts are not eligible for the carpool discount.

What happens if I lose my carpool partner?

You will have 30 days to locate a new partner. If you cannot, you are entitled to retain your permit by paying the full monthly permit rate. If your carpool eligibility is interrupted for more than 30 days, your permit will be canceled. After interruption, you must reapply and wait for another opening to reestablish your carpool permit.

For enrollment and application, see Forms (monthly application).
