The following are street and/or sidewalk closures for the time frame beginning Friday May 09, 2008. 

DOWNTOWN AREA

SHORT-TERM SIDWALK & STREET CLOSURES

  • P Street @ Hwy 5 Southbound entrance (periodic lane closures on the freeway onramps for Caltrans. maintenance work Monday May 05-Wednesday May 07, 2008).
  • 1510 -1514 19th Street (periodic traffic lane closures and sidewalk closures for a utility project).
  • 16th Street -btwn- I Street and J Street (periodic traffic lane and sidewalk closures for sidewalk reconstruction projects).
  • Capital Mall -btwn- 7th Street and 8th Street (periodic traffic lane and sidewalk closures on the south side of the street).
  • Capital -btwn- 25th Street and 26th Street (periodic traffic lane and sidewalk closures for sidewalk reconstruction project).
  • 15th Street, 16th Street and J Street, I Street (periodic traffic lane and sidewalk closures for landscape and sidewalk project around the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium).

At the following locations you may experience periodic traffic delays due to the Sutter General joint utility project.

  • Capital Ave –btwn-26th street and 29th street
  • N street –btwn- 26th street and 29th street
  • 27th street –btwn- Capital Ave and N street
  • 28th street –btwn- Capital Ave and N street
  • 29th street –btwn- Capital Ave and N Street.

FUTURE PROJECTS: 

Hyw-5 Boat Section Project will start on May 30, 2008:  Northbound Hwy-5 will close at the Q street off-ramp.  Expect heavy traffic delays between Sutterville Road and Richards Boulevard.  Traffic on City streets will be impacted so please plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time, expect delays for the duration of this 24 hour a day and seven days a week project.  More details to follow.

SPECIAL EVENT: 

LONG TERM SIDEWALK & STREET CLOSURES

  • 2nd Street –btwn- P Street and O Street (2nd street will be completely closed, to relocate the street, west of its’ present location to facilitate the expansion of the Crocker Art Museum).
  • N Street Bypass/N Street Ramp –btwn- Capital Mall and 3rd Street(the N Street Bypass is closed for permanent removal of that portion of the street to prepare property for new development.
  • 8TH Street –btwn- L Street and K Street Mall (Sidewalk closed on the eastside of the street for sidewalk
  • L Street –btwn- 27th Street and 30th Street (L Street is reduced to one traffic lane for construction of the
    Sutter General tunnel.
  • 10th street –btwn- J Street and K Street (sidewalk and parking lane are closed on the west side of the Street).
  • 10th street –btwn- K Street and L Street (sidewalk and parking lane are closed on the east side of the Street.  Alternate path of travel provided adjacent to the sidewalk closure.  Please use caution when passing through).
  • J Street –btwn- 9th Street and 10th Street(sidewalk and parking lane are closed on the south side of the street)
  • Capitol Mall –btwn- 5th Street and 6th Street (Covered walkway provided on the south side; please use caution when passing through).
  • Capitol Mall –btwn- 20th Street and 21st Street (sidewalk closed on the south side).
  • N Street –btwn-5th Street and 6th Street (sidewalk and parking lane are closed.  A covered walk way has been provided; please use caution when passing through).
  • 5th Street –btwn- N Street and Capitol Mall (sidewalk and a vehicle travel lane are closed on the east side).
  • P street -btwn- 7th street and 8th street (The sidewalk and the parking lane, on the south side, are closed.  The number one traffic lane is closed).
  • 7th street – btwn- P street and Q street (The sidewalk and the parking lane, on the east side, are closed.  The number one traffic lane is closed).
  • J Street at 10th Street (the south side of J Street has a covered walkway with scaffolding, please use caution when passing area).
  • N street –btwn- 26th street through 27th street (sidewalks and Parking lanes are closed on the north side.  Periodic lane closures for utility work).
  • 28th Street –btwn- L Street and Capitol Ave (entire and street is closed, including the sidewalk).
  • Capital Ave –btwn- 27th Street and 28th Street (sidewalk and parking lane are closed on the north side).

NORTH AREA

North of the River

SHORT-TERM SIDEWALK & STREET CLOSURES

  • San Juan -btwn- Bridgeford and Truxel (periodic traffic lane closures for grinding and paving operations to prepare the road surface for a City of Sacramento D.O.T. street overlay project scheduled for Summer 2008).
  • Arden -btwn- Oxford Street and Exposition (periodic traffic lane closures to paint multiple traffic signal          back-plates).  Please use caution when approaching the area.
  • Del Paso Road –btwn- Five Star and Truxel (periodic traffic lane closures for Road Widening Project).
  • Norwood Ave @ Fairbanks Ave (periodic traffic lane and sidewalk closures, on the southwest corner of the intersection, for ADA curb ramp installation)

SPECIAL EVENTS:  “Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure” Saturday    May 10, 2008 (5k route starts on Exposition blvd heading east to Challenge Way to Response Road; west on Response Road to Exposition Blvd; east on Exposition Blvd to Heritage Lane; north on Heritage Lane to Exposition; west on Exposition Blvd to Cal Expo grounds wheer the run/walk will continue and then disband.

EAST AREA

East of 30th Street

SHORT-TERM SIDEWALK & STEET CLOSURES

  • Howe Ave -btwn- College Town Drive and University Drive (periodic traffic lane closures on the Howe Ave Bridge, expect heavy traffic delays).  Please use alternate routes during the hours of                       8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. This project is expected to last until June 05, 2008.
  • Alhambra -btwn- J Street and K Street (periodic traffic lane and sidewalk closures for sidewalk and driveway reconstruction on the east side of the street).
  • J Street from 39th Street to Alhambra and Alhambra from J Street to C Street (mobile traffic lane closures to move two home on Saturday May 10, 2008).
  • Folsom Blvd -btwn- 46th Street and 47th Street (periodic traffic lane closures for a City of Sacramento Utility project).
  • H Street -btwn- 44th Street and 56th Street (temporary traffic lane shifts for utilities drain inlet project).
  • Q Street –btwn- 30th Street and Alhambra (sidewalk is closed on the south side of the street for construction of a new building).

SOUTH AREA

South of Broadway

SHORT-TERM SIDEWALK & STREET CLOSURES   

  • Sutterville Road @ Hwy 5 (Saturday May 10, 2008 and possible Sunday May 11, 2008 both Hwy 5 exits will be closed including Sutterville Road for grinding and paving operations.  Please use the caution while traveling through the work area and the designated detours).
  • South Land Park Drive @ Fruitridge (Saturday May 10, 2008 - periodic traffic lane and sidewalk closures for traffic signal project)
  • Riverside Blvd @ Castro (periodic traffic lane closures for a utility project).
  • 25th Street -btwn- 24th Street and Florin Road (periodic traffic lane and street closures for grinding and paving operations).
  • Center Parkway -btwn- Bamford and Arroyo Vista (periodic traffic lane closures for City of Sacramento median landscaping project).
  • Florin Road -btwn- Freeport Blvd and 20th Street (periodic traffic lane closures for Median landscape project).  Expect heavy traffic delays in both directions, please use alternate routes).
  • Broadway -btwn- 63rd Street and 65th Street (periodic traffic lane and sidewalk closures to install ADA curb ramps).
  • Broadway -btwn- 59th Street and Kroy Way (periodic traffic lane closures for street paving operations),
  • Bruceville Road -btwn- Timberlake and Cosumnes River Blvd. (periodic traffic lane and sidewalk closures to install 82 inch water main across the intersection.  Expect heavy traffic delays, detours and some night work.  Please avoid area if possible, and try to use alternate routes).
  • Cosumnes River Blvd –btwn- Franklin Boulevard and Bruceville (traffic is diverted onto the bypass road to allow the Freeport Water Authority to install their new water main).   You can expect lower driving speeds.
  • 23rd  Ave –btwn- Freeport and Larson Way (periodic street closures, on 23rd Ave,  for 60 inch Storm Main to (#26 Detention Basin @ Leonardo Da Vinci School).
  • Stockton Boulevard @ 42nd Street (periodic traffic lane closures and sidewalk closures on 42nd Street for construction of new building).
  • Stockton Blvd –btwn- R Street and 39th Street (periodic traffic lane closures for City of Sacramento water main replacement project.  Expect added traffic delays.  If possible, please use alternate routes)
  • Hwy 99 @ Calvin/Sheldon (interchange large scale construction to upgrade the freeway ramps and overcrossing).  Night work with some detours).
