City workers are kicking off the third year of “Work Zone Safety Awareness Month,” Monday, April 6, by making random safety inspections of City streets and working with police to step up traffic enforcement at construction projects in the right-of-way.
The campaign is aimed at increasing driver awareness of work zones, slowing traffic and preventing vehicle accidents at City construction sites.
The campaign features the annual display of special “Pleaze Slow Down” signage at work sites. Employees have raised money through fundraisers and corporate sponsors over the years to fund the annual outreach program.
