South Sacramento Floodplain Remap

The City of Sacramento, the County of Sacramento, the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency, the State Department of Water Resources, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have recently completed work to the Sacramento River and Morrison Creek levees. This work has resulted in the FEMA re-mapping of the South Sacramento Floodplain.

Residents in South Sacramento now can qualify for lower cost Preferred Risk Flood Insurance Policies (PRP). These policies typically cost approximately $325 per year and cover both contents (up to $100,000) and structure (up to $250,000).

To convert your policy to a PRP, you will need to provide a copy of the FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and a copy of the Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) to your insurance agent. Copies of the FIRMs for South Sacramento and the Letter of Map Revision are located below.
