When will the City collect my yard waste pile?
During leaf season, the City collects nearly 27,000 tons of yard waste. Due to the large amount of leaves needing collection, the City may fall behind on its scheduled collection day. Please use the maps below to determine when we will be in your neighborhood next.

Containerized Yard Waste Services
More than 100,000 residents currently participate in the Containerized Yard Waste Collection Program. Participants must use a 96-gallon yard waste container for weekly collection and may place yard waste loose-on-the street for collections 8 scheduled times per year, during peak seasons. For a calendar of loose-in-the-street for containerized customers click here. Containerized collection is the same day as your garbage and recycling collection.
Containerized Yard Waste Service Guidelines
- Place containers at the curb by 6:00 AM.
- Make sure the lid is completely closed. Do not over stack. Cut tree branches and limbs if necessary.
- Allow three feet between containers. Place containers six feet from cars, utility poles, mailboxes, boats, and other obstructions.
- Place containers on the street, not on the sidewalk. Please note, residents in time restricted parking areas (downtown and Oak Park) should place containers on the curb or in the area between the curb and sidewalk.
- Containerized Yard Waste customers must use a container for weekly collection. The City offers containerized customers 8 scheduled loose-in-the-street collections per year. 2011/2012 Calendar is now available! Please share this schedule with your gardener.
- January - collection second full week

- November and December - collection will be two times per month, however schedules may vary during leaf season
Please have yard waste piles on the street by the first day of the loose-in-the-street collection week. Piles can be no larger than 3'x3'x6
- Yard waste containers are 96 Gallons
- Containerized customers save 23% on their yard waste bills each month, compared to loose-in-the-street customers.
