 The Solid Waste Division is implementing a new pilot program for
Neighborhood Clean Up. Selected communities
throughout the City are being asked to schedule an appointment
for the annual clean up program. In the past entire neighborhoods
participated, now residents can participate individually at a time
convenient for the resident. The goals of the program are to increase
convenience, reduce costs, and limit scavenging of piles. WHY THE CHANGE?

Appointments can be scheduled up to 30 days in advance.
Appointment Program This pilot program allows residents
to schedule an annual cleanup day
at their convenience. Simply call
Solid Waste Customer Service to schedule
an appointment. Here's how:
- Check the list below for acceptable
and unacceptable items.
- Call Customer Service to schedule
an appointment. A representative
will let you know the day of the
week your area is scheduled for
collection and you choose the date
for service. Appointments can be
scheduled up to 30 days in advance.
- Items you want collected. Let
the customer service representative
know the items you want collected.
This allows us to schedule the
equipment needed to collect your
materials. Let Customer Service
know if you have a refrigerator.
A special truck is used to pick
them up.
PROGRAM GUIDELINES
- Place materials at the curb no
earlier than 24 hours before your
scheduled appointment.
- Place all material out for collection
by 6:00 AM on your scheduled appointment
day.
- Place loose items in disposable
containers like cardboard boxes
for collection.
- Pile must not exceed 3' x 3'
x 9' feet in length. Wood must
not exceed 6 feet in length and
fencing material is to be disassembled.
- All appliances, televisions,
computer monitors, and computers
should be set out separately either
against the garage or the house,
not on the curb or street.
- Contact Appliance Distribution
at (916) 497-0294 to recycle additional
white goods or electronic waste
items.
The following are acceptable
materials for collection:
- No more than one of the following
appliances per collection: refrigerators,
stoves, dishwashers, hot water
heaters, washers, dryers, and freezers.
Remove locking doors and place
all appliances on your property
(near garage, house, or in drive
way) for collection.
- Furniture
- No more than two electronic waste
items per collection. Place these
items in a separate pile on your
property (near garage, house, or
in driveway) for collection.
- Mattresses
- Carpet
- Toys
- Wood/Fencing Material, Lumber
(no piece longer than 6 feet and
fencing must be disassembled)
- Tires Without Rims
The following materials will
not be collected!
- Liquid Waste
- Household Hazardous Waste
- U-Waste (Batteries and fluorescent lamps) Call 808-5454 to schedule an appointment
- Concrete, Dirt,
Rocks, and Brick
- Tires
with rims
- Garden Refuse
- Auto Parts
- Junk Vehicles
- Commercial or Contractor Waste
- Bullets or Shells
Do not place material:
- Next to parked vehicles - 6'
separation
- In ditches or on private property
- Against fences or buildings
- Blocking sidewalks or street
