Water Services

Annually, the department provides more than 45 billion gallons of water for drinking, household use, fire suppression, landscaping, commercial and industrial use. The Sacramento and American rivers provide 85% of this water. The remaining 15% is well water. The Department operates and maintains the two water treatment plants, eight pump stations, thousands of hydrants, and more than fifteen hundred miles of pipeline necessary to transport this water to city homes and businesses.
