Office of Cannabis Management

The Office of Cannabis Management manages the implementation of the permitting, enforcement and regulations for commercial cannabis in the City of Sacramento. This includes the oversight of cannabis retail dispensaries, cultivators, manufacturers, distributors and testing laboratories.

The office is responsible for coordinating the activities of an interdepartmental team to effectuate safe, legal operation of cannabis businesses. General duties include the evaluation and issuance of cannabis permits, policy recommendations, implementing an enforcement program for permitted cannabis business, supporting enforcement efforts to eliminate the illegal activity including managing cannabis code appeal hearings, and conducting outreach and education to stakeholders and the general public. 

The division also collaborates with state agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure the consistent application of State and local laws and regulations.
