Public Counter Appointments
Now accepting appointments at the Public Counter, 300 Richards Blvd, 3rd Floor. Appointments are limited and for specific services. Customers must have an appointment to have access to the Public Counter. Visit our Schedule an Appointment page to learn more and schedule. All building an planning applications will continue to be submitted through the Citizen Portal.
Notice: The City of Sacramento Building Division will begin in-person inspections for building permits starting Monday, April 18. Inspections have been ongoing throughout the pandemic but have been done virtually through FaceTime and Google Duo. Please visit the Schedule an Inspection page for more information and to schedule.
Holiday Closures
The Community Development Department will be closed for services on Monday, May 30, 2022 in observance of Memorial Day.
LAST DAY FOR ASSESSOR TO PROCESS CHANGES TO PARCEL MAPS FOR THE 2021-22 TAX ROLL IS FRIDAY, April 29, 2022
To ensure annual roll close operations run smoothly, the deletion and creation of assessor parcels must be halted while the parcel data and files are finalized. Therefore, April 29th is the deadline to process recorded map documents that require the deletion/creation of assessor parcels. Parcel map processing will resume on July 1, 2022.
Note: The exception to this is any new parcels required for transfers that occur before May 31st, 2022. These parcels will be created for the June 30th Tax Roll Close Date.

Electronic Over-the-Counter Plan Review Services are now available!
On March 22, we launched our Electronic Over-the-Counter Plan Review Service. This Sacramento Streamline program replaces the highly popular version of the service that was performed at our public counter in the past. For qualifying projects, plans can be reviewed the business day after they are received.

Encroachment permits for work in the public right-of-way
Building construction projects submitting their building plan review application on or after February 12th, 2021 which require any work in the public right-of-way (also referenced as offsite improvements) must submit an Encroachment Permit to Development Engineering no later than by the cycle 2 review of the building plan check resubmittal to continue with building plan review and approval process. Email DE@cityofsacramento.org for any questions regarding the Encroachment Permit process which are not covered on the City web page.

In the interest of keeping our community safe and well during this time, the Community Development Department's Public Counter, located at 300 Richards Blvd. 3rd Floor, will be CLOSED until further notice as of end of day March 18, 2020. All Planning and Building applications must be submitted through our Citizen Permit Portal. Please view the Online Services we are offering at this time. Updates will be made on our website as circumstances change.
e-Check limit increased for online payments
Our electronic check payment limit was increased from $100,000 to $150,000. For additional information visit our Pay Building Fees page.
