The Community Development Department will be CLOSED for services Thursday, November 23, 2023, and Friday, November 24, 2023, in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday.


Public Counter appointments for in-person services are available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

Cashiering services are available 5-days a week, excluding City holidays. On Mondays and Fridays, in-person cashiering services are available by appointment only. Walk-ins for cashiering services are welcomed Tuesday-Thursday during public counter hours. For convenience, you can also Pay Fees Online.

The Building Division’s Alternate Means and Materials Request process was utilized to build the country’s first residential structure with six stories of light wood-frame construction.  Read the complete article for details.

On March 22, 2017, the Building Division of the City of Sacramento was presented with the California Building Officials’ (CALBO) Building Department of the Year Award. The award recognizes an outstanding jurisdiction for its demonstrated leadership over the preceding year. This honor motivates staff to continue being proactive and innovative to streamline the building process.
