Permit services is the main resource for customers seeking a building permit.  The first step in the process is finding the service that fits your project.

A building permit is required for projects such as new construction, additions, tenant improvements, pools, spas, signs, remodeling, and work on electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems. Read more on projects that are exempt from building permit requirements

Please remember: work started before a building permit is issued will be subject to a penalty fee.

NEED TO VISIT THE PUBlIC COUNTER?

The Community Development Department offers appointments for planning questions and minor building permit needs. For more information and to make an appointment, please visit the Appointment Scheduling page. Beginning September 11, 2023 in-person appointments will be available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Online Minor Permits

As a part of the Sacramento Streamline initiative we now offer California licensed contractors the ability to pull minor permits online and schedule inspections online.
