Appointment Scheduling

We offer appointments for customers applying for or obtaining building permits.  You can request an appointment for the following services:

  • Minor permits
  • General questions
  • Fee payment

Limited appointment availability Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays (beginning the week of September 11, 2023)

Appointments for planning applications and minor building permit needs will be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (beginning the week of September 11, 2023) from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with two appointments available for each half-hour time slot. Appointments will ONLY be accepted for minor permits, general questions, and fee payments. All other business will continue to be done electronically. Paper plans are no longer being accepted.

All plan review submittals/resubmittals will continue to be submitted online through the Citizen Portal.

To schedule an appointment

Appointments for minor permit services and general questions are available for Building, Planning, Code Enforcement, Development Engineering, Fire, Housing and Dangerous Building, Rental Housing Inspection and Utilities. 

Book an Appointment

In your appointment request, please indicate:

  • Project site address
  • Nature or scope of the work
  • Whether commercial or residential
  • Contact information including phone number and e-mail address (this will be used to send pre-appointment forms/information and for confirmation of the appointment)

Cashiering Appointment

Cashiering Appointments are not needed Tuesday through Thursday during public counter hours. Cashiering services on Mondays and Fridays are available by appointment between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and can be scheduled via email to or by phone at (916) 808-5318. 

For Cashiering Appointments, provide the following in your email or voicemail:

  • Time
  • Date
  • Contact information of the person that will be coming in to make the payment

At the time of your cashiering appointment, a cashier will meet you in the 1st floor lobby at 300 Richards Blvd. to retrieve and process your payment. 

To cancel/reschedule an appointment

If you receive service prior to your appointment date as a courtesy to others, please cancel your scheduled appointment.
