New Master Plan Application Process & Production Permit Qualifying Automation Service is Here!

The City of Sacramento’s Building Division would like to announce the development of its new online production home permit process! The automation we have built into this process allows you to apply for a permit online anywhere, anytime, and in just a few short steps.

This innovative technology is based on the suggestions of our local production home developers which we heard loud and clear, and made happen. This process is one-of-a-kind and designed to make your permit application process quick and easy!

The two-part process allows home builders to apply for production home permit applications online within a matter of minutes. You are now be able to submit and track your production home permits from the City’s online Citizen Portal.

How does the new system work?

Part I: Starting Thursday, April 15, 2021, all Master Plan submissions must include completion of the following checklists:

  1. Our one-page Master Plan Application for Residential Subdivision Development - CDD-0431 form, and

  2. Master Plan/Subdivision & Production Permit Take-In Sheet - CDD-0259 form.

Of importance, the options package tables within this application must also be included in the title sheet of the Master Plans under the project data summary section.

Part II: Our go live-date for automation of Production Permit Applications started on Monday, May 17, 2021. Once the Master Plans record is approved and completed as outlined on Part I, developers can apply for production permit applications online within a matter of minutes.

Virtual Training Opportunities

Staff hosted two online training sessions on May 6th and 12th for home developers and permit processors wishing to learn more about the newly automated production permit system. We reviewed  the benefits of the newly created automated features, submittal requirements, tracking submitted permit applications, departmental review timelines, approval notifications, and had a final segment for Q&A. A link to the recorded training session will be posted here shortly.
