Building Permits

Due to California’s stay-at-home order, the Community Development Department’s Public Counter will be closed until further notice.

We can still assist you during this time through our online services.

Permit services staff is answering general customer questions through our public email account at ezpermit@cityofsacramento.org.  For customers requiring guidance on our electronic submission process, please email  epcintake@cityofsacrmento.org or call (916) 808-5318 for further assistance.

A pick-up location has been designated on the first floor lobby at 300 Richards Blvd for customers to pick up approved sets of plans.  Please contact (916) 808-5337 to schedule your pick-up.  This service is only available on Mondays and Wednesdays.

A building permit is required for projects such as new construction, additions, tenant improvements, pools, spas, signs, remodeling, and work on electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems. Read more on projects that are exempt from building permit requirements.

Please remember: work started before a building permit is issued will be subject to a penalty fee.
