Office of Violence Prevention
The City of Sacramento Office of Violence Prevention strives to reduce gang violence through the implementation of four key initiatives:
- Gang Prevention and Intervention Taskforce
- Gang Prevention and Intervention Taskforce Grant Program
- Peacemake Fellowship Program
- Violence Reduction Summit
GANG PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION TASKFORCE
The Gang Prevention and Intervention Taskforce is a coalition comprised of stakeholders representing a broad range of sectors including service providers, health care providers, school administrators, faith leaders, law enforcement personnel, and elected officials. The Taskforce strives to encourage cross-collaboration and align all entities under a unified violence prevention framework.
GANG PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION TASKFORCE GRANT PROGRAM
Established in 2016, the Gang Prevention and Intervention Taskforce grant program awards community-based organizations funding to deliver services proven to curb gang violence. Since inception, the City has awarded approximately $5 million in grants to over 30 community-based organizations.
PEACEMAKER FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
Operated by Advance Peace Sacramento, the Peacemaker Fellowship Program aims to disrupt the cycles of violence by enrolling individuals who are the most likely perpetrators and/or victims of gun violence into an 18-month intensive program.
VIOLENCE REDUCTION SUMMIT
Hosted annually, the Violence Reduction Summit brings together violence prevention service providers with the goal of building cross-sector awareness and improving service coordination. The Summit features keynote presentations, dynamic panels, interactive activities, table exercises, and special guests.
