Here are a few tips on what to do to have a safe and fun night out.
1. Know your transportation plans:
- Always share your location so someone knows where you’re going
- Have a travel plan to get home safely
- Check license plates before you enter your for-hire vehicle
2. Know your limits:
- Drink alcohol responsibly and stay hydrated
- Never leave your drink unattended or accept drinks from strangers
3. Know personal safety precautions:
- Always be aware of your surroundings and know exits in case of emergencies
- Don’t leave with a stranger without telling someone you know
- Be a good bystander and intervene if you see harassment
4. Know your venue requirements:
- Be aware of venue rules and codes
- Be prepared to have your identification verified or scanned

- Park in well-lit areas and note landmarks to remind you where you parked
- Pay attention to posted street signs and note parking fees or restrictions
- Don’t leave any valuables or items in plain sight and lock your car doors
Respond to an overdose:
Know the signs and symptoms of an overdose to help save a life:
- A person is passed out and you cannot wake them up
- They are breathing very slowly or making gurgling sounds
- Their lips are blue or grayish color
- Call 911 for medical help
Watch your belongings:
There’s no need to bring everything you own when going out. To prevent loss, carry an ID, use a digital app to prove your vax status, and don’t leave your items like phone or bags unattended. Order your own drinks and don't leave them unattended.
Charge your phone:
Be sure your phone is fully charged before you leave the house and bring a portable charger or USB plug with you.
