Fire Investigation & Arson

Sacramento Fire Department Fire Investigators professionally and comprehensively investigate fires to determine origin and cause, for the purpose of effectively impacting fire incident frequency, monetary loss, fire related injuries and deaths, and criminal arrest of persons responsible for arson and/or fraud. All Investigators assigned to the unit are peace officers pursuant 830.37 PC and possess the powers of arrest.

Youth Firesetters

Is your child experimenting with fire?

The Firefighters Burn Institute Youth Firesetter Program provides a coordinated effort in helping youth firesetters and their families receive the help they need through education, diversion, assessment, and psychological services. The program is administered by the Firefighters Burn Institute and available to families living in the Sacramento County; and some areas of Nevada, Yuba, Placer, and Yolo Counties.
