Mobile 311 Citizen Self-Service Application FAQs

What can I do using the Mobile 311 Citizen Self-Service applications?

You can create and submit issues and requests, such as a missed garbage pick-up or a streetlight that is out, to the City of Sacramento for service. You can sign up for Text Message and/or email recycle alerts so you know in advance when it is your scheduled recycle day. The Sac311 App also allows residents to view a directory of FAQs for numerous City Departments and Divisions directly through the iPhone or Android apps.

The applications are for non public safety related items only. If you are reporting an urgent and time sensitive issue, please call 311, or (916) 264-5011 rather than using one of the self-service applications.

For medical, police, or fire related issues or emergencies, please do not use this tool. Call the appropriate agency directly or call 911.

Which application should I use?
  • If you have an iPhone or iPad, you can use the Mobile 311 Citizen Self-Service iPhone application.
  • If you have an Android device, you can use the Mobile 311 Citizen Self-Service Android application.
  • You can also access the Mobile Optimized Website Web App with the browser that is installed on your device if you are using a PC, Mac, Windows Mobile IE, or Blackberry.
What are the system requirements for the iOS application?

Compatible with iPhone 3GS and later, iPod touch (3rd or 4th generation), and iPad (requires iOS 5.0 or later).

What are the system requirements for the Android application?

Compatible with Android version 2.2 and up.

Can I check the status of an issue or request I have submitted?

At this time, status updates are not available through the Mobile 311 Citizen Self-Service Applications. However, you can call 311 (if outside city limits call 916-264-5011) to speak to a customer service representative, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Does the Mobile 311 Citizen Self-Service app cost anything to use?

The City applications are free. Please note that in the absence of a Wi-Fi connection, the application uses your cellular network connection to submit requests. Please check with your carrier to see if you will be charged for usage.

Can I submit requests offline or in Airplane Mode?

You cannot submit requests unless you are connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network.
