NSD History

The Neighborhood Services Division was established in 1993 in response to citizen concerns regarding customer service, coordination of city services, and notification of development projects.

The Division addressed citizen concerns by offering services that facilitated public involvement in city government and offering programs aimed at enhancing quality of life. Division services focused on neighborhood capacity building, code enforcement, and after-school enrichment programs.

Over time, the needs of the City grew. With growth, Code Enforcement became its own Division and the youth enrichment program became an integral program of the Parks and Recreation Division.

Neighborhood Services continues to focus on customer service by helping neighborhoods address community problems, supporting neighborhood associations, involving residents in city government, and providing information and referrals to city services. Our commitment to connecting residents to one another and city government staff remains a top priority.
