McKinley Park

McKinley Park Playground: 
The McKinley Playground is a colorful custom designed playground, which is based on East Sacramento’s 125 year old past.  It includes an “Alhambra Theater” entry archway, river boat, street trolley, the “Tower” bridge, large tree house, rubber surfacing with animal graphics, large climbing wall and boulders and concrete turtle. The playground was built on-site with over 2,000 community volunteers over a 6 day period, with substantial funding from community donations of money, building materials and equipment. The playground also features a custom seat wall and sand area with a tile mural installed by local Sacramento artists, and restoration of two original lion-fish painted by local Sacramento artist.

Water Vault Project Improvements to McKinley Park

McKinley Park, Parkwater Vault Project Improvements

For the Water Vault Project improvements, construction fencing will go up at McKinley Park around the existing baseball field, corporate picnic area, and the horseshoe courts at the end of this May 2019. Attached is a plan showing a yellow dashed line which indicates the construction fencing which will be installed. The plan also shows the new park amenities to be installed with the Water Vault project. Attached is a FAQ sheet to address questions regarding the project. Construction is expected to take 18-24 months. The jogging trail will remain open around the entire park except the area will 33rd St. will be closed between McKinley Park and the Shephard Garden & Arts Park. The tennis court area will remain open and be unaffected.
