Lifeguard Scholarships

Ready to jump right into a Lifeguard Certification Course? Scholarships are available to applicants interested in joining the Aquatics team. If you meet the course prerequisites, go through the city’s hiring process, and are willing to work at least 4 months as a lifeguard for the City, there are scholarships available to attend our Lifeguard Academy. Complete and return a scholarship application at least 14 days prior to the course start date for consideration.

Curious about the skills needed to pass a Lifeguard Certification course? Attend a free Lifeguard Prerequisite Skills Workshop for the opportunity to earn a scholarship to cover the cost of your certification course!

• Bring a swimsuit and meet us at the pool where our instructors will help guide and teach the skills needed to pass the American Red Cross Lifeguard prerequisite skills test.
• Qualifying participants interested in working as a Lifeguard for the City of Sacramento can apply for a scholarship that covers all certification course fees.
• Learn about employment opportunities with the City of Sacramento, apply for a job, and interview for a position!
• Requirements: All applicants must be at least 15 years of age, meet the course prerequisites, complete the hiring process with the City of Sacramento, and commit to working at least 4 months during the summer as a Lifeguard for the City.
