Instructor teaching computer techniques

TechConnections

TechConnections is the City of Sacramento’s technology program to help Sacramento seniors age 50 plus navigate the world of computer technology.

Classes and one-on-one assistance with technological devices are held at Hart Senior Center and select community centers throughout the city.

Research by the Pew Foundation firmly debunks the myth that older adults are disinterested in technology. “There are two general categories of how seniors use technology,” stated Program Coordinator Deborah King. “Connecting to family and friends and, increasingly, as an essential way to access information.” However, keeping up with the latest technology can quickly get very intimidating, which is why a program like TechConnections becomes even more valuable. “Even for seniors who have caught the technology bug, keeping up with rapid changes can be a challenge,” said King.
