Services for the Deaf

Text-to-911 is available to all Sacramento residents and visitors.  Text-to-911 provides direct access to our 911 Center for citizens who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech disabled.

In addition, citizens who are not able to make a non-emergency voice call to the Sacramento Police Department, can email the Sacramento Police Department.  If you wish to contact us via email, any web-enabled device can be utilized with the following email address: commresponse@pd.cityofsacramento.org. This email address is directed into the 911 Center.

Deaf or hard of hearing callers to 911 or the Police Department can also use  a relay provider.  If you need assistance finding this service, a list of these providers can be found at https://www.fcc.gov/general/internet-based-trs-providers.

The Sacramento Police Department encourages all residents to sign-up for  our Community Emergency Notification System. The system is designed to alert our community and neighborhoods of critical public safety information such as missing persons, evacuations, shelter-in-place orders, and critical law enforcement activity in a neighborhood. At times, non-emergency information related to public safety, such as a crime series, is relayed.

The Community Emergency Notification System is a robust notification system that can deliver text or email messages. In order to receive these messages you will need to register by going to www.sacramento-alert.org.  If you have any questions, please email commresponse@pd.cityofsacramento.org.
