CADETS

Unpaid - 4 hours every two weeks

The mission of the Sacramento Police Cadet Program is to develop young people into productive, responsible citizens through leadership, team building, and hands-on activities while inspiring the pursuit of a law enforcement career. This program is open to youth between the ages of 14 and 21 who are currently enrolled in high school or college. Cadets meet on a bi-weekly basis and learn the fundamentals of law enforcement through classwork and practical exercises.

STUDENT TRAINEES

$12.52  hourly - Up to 20 hours per week

The Student Trainee position is an entry level position designed to provide college students exposure to the Sacramento Police Department. Student Trainees are assigned to units throughout the Department and are responsible for various administrative tasks the support operations and investigations. Employees in this classification are required to be enrolled in at least 12 semester units and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

COMMUNITY SERVICE OFFICERS

$24.25 hourly - Up to 40 hours per week

The Community Service Officer (CSO) position is a limited term entry level position designed to help prepare those interested in a career as a police officer with the Sacramento Police Department. CSO’s are a support system to patrol officers and work in the field to assist with a variety of tasks. They take reports on calls such as burglaries, vehicle thefts, and missing persons, and assist with processing scenes, photographing scenes, and scene protection.
