Bryce Heinlein


MEET Captain Bryce Heinlein

Office of Specialized Services - Metro Division

Captain Bryce Heinlein began his career with the Sacramento Police Department in 2000. He currently serves as Captain of the Metro Division. As an officer he worked in Patrol, the Downtown Bike Unit, the Downtown POP Unit, and was a detective in Robbery/Burglary, Felony Assaults, and Homicide.

After promoting to Sergeant, Bryce worked in Patrol and the Public Information Office. As lieutenant, he was a Patrol Watch Commander and was assigned to the Major Crimes Division in Investigations. Prior to coming to SPD, Bryce served with the El Dorado County Probation Department.

Bryce graduated from Sacramento State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Bryce received POST Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Supervisory and Management Certificates, and graduated from the POST Management Course in 2016. He has completed several executive development courses, including the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (Class 409), POST Executive Development Course and the Executive Development Institute at the Drucker School of Management. He volunteers with many local organizations, including the Sacramento Police-Sheriff Memorial where he serves as a board member.

Bryce is the recipient of the Sacramento Police Department Unit Citation.
