MEET Deputy CHIEF Norm LEong

Deputy Chief Norm Leong grew up in Sacramento, California. He attended Christian Brothers High School, Sacramento City College and the University of California, San Diego where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Norm is a graduate of POST Command College and PERF Senior Management in Policing. His parents immigrated from China and Deputy Chief Leong speaks Cantonese.
Norm attended the Sacramento Police Academy in 1994. Norm has worked in many assignments within the police department, including as a patrol officer, neighborhood police officer in South Sacramento, narcotics and vice detective, public information officer and as an internal affairs investigator. As a manager, Norm has been the captain over Regional Transit, Detectives Division, Central Command, and the Metro Command. Since being promoted to Deputy Chief, Norm has overseen the Office of Specialized Services.
Norm is the recipient of two department Unit Citation Awards, a Silver Medal of Valor, and he was recognized by the California State Legislature for dedicated service to the community and law enforcement mission.
Norm is married to Audrey Leong and has resided in the City of Sacramento his entire career.
