MEET Lieutenant Roman Murrietta

Office of Investigations – Employee Development & Training 

Lieutenant Roman Murrietta came from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department and joined the Sacramento Police Department in 1999. He is currently assigned to Research, Training & Development. He has worked a variety of assignments at SPD which include Regional Transit, patrol, gangs, narcotics, internal affairs, and the Chief’s Office.

Roman has a master’s degree in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership and bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Management. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the Senior Management Institute for Police.

Roman has always had a passion for working with the community. He is the founding supervisor of our Cops & Clergy program and a department lead for the Links to Law Enforcement program. His sustained work in the community has been recognized by the California State Senate and numerous local faith leaders, non-profits, and youth organizations.

Away from work, Roman is also a proud Rotarian who believes in “Service Above Self” and volunteers his time helping others.
