MEET Captain Rudy Chan

Office of Investigations – Research, Development & Training Division

Captain Rudy Chan began his career with the Sacramento Police Department in 1995. He is currently assigned as the Captain of the Training, Research and Development Division. Rudy has also worked assignments in Patrol, Professional Standards, Internal Affairs, Gang Investigations, Felony Assaults, Homicide, Forensics, Evidence and Property, Investigative Services, and he previously led the Administrative Services Division in the Office of the Chief.

Rudy is also a former Captain with the U.S. Army. He is a graduate of the POST Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (SLI) and the FBI National Academy. He is the recipient of two Unit Citation awards.

Rudy graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Economics.

Rudy was drawn to the Sacramento Police Department for the chance to serve with a big agency in the capital city, with lots of opportunities.
